Should Barry Bonds have an * near his name in the Hall of Fame?

I ask this because I'm one who roots for Bonds while the "unclear" steriod allegations are floating around. If Barry gets an aster next to his name then, so should every Ball Player who played before segregation. Just my opinion.

Should Barry Bonds have an * near his name in the Hall of Fame?
No Bonds should not get an aster next to his name because he hasn't been proven guilty. In this country the rule is innocent until proven guilty not the other way around. And even if he has taken steroids Barry would still be in the top 100 players of all time without them. He is the only member of the 500-500 club and he holds multiple records that cannot be attributed to steroids like having the most walks of all time and being in the top 3 all time for on base percentage. Bonds has also won eight gold gloves. Unless steroids make you catch better and give you a better eye at the plate then i believe that Bonds is a great player with or without roids.

Another note why is Bonds able to hit 70 homers when roid users like Giambi, Sheffield, and others can hit 40 at most in a season. And just to let all you haters know Bonds isnt the only one who used or uses steroids hes just the best.
Reply:Who says he'll ever be elected to the HOF? DItto Rafael Palmeiro, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire, Gary Sheffield and Jason Giambi, well-known players who have each either admitted to steroid use or been greatly and rigthfully suspected of the same.
Reply:Barry Bonds will never be voted to the Hall Of Fame.

The only record he deserves is "Largest increase in NECK and Head size".Look at the old photos with the new.

Guys neck and head blew up like a balloon.

Thats not from workin out.

He is a cheater and a liar too.

He is a terrible blemish on our national pastime........

He is a disgrace to our country.
Reply:Well, not exactly

On his plaque, I guess it should just list the years he used steroids, because even before steroids he was a great player
Reply:Well said i love b but how about 7 time mvp going for 8 this year. How about 2 batting titles going for 3 this year. How about all time slug percentage record??? It can go on and on. Roids or no roids Barry Bonds is the best we will ever see in our lifetime. His ticket is already punched and his speech is already written for his first ballot hall of fame election GUARANTEED!!!! and there is no asterisk to be seen.
Reply:There is no proof Bonds took steriod!!

There will be NO * by Bonds name in the Hall Of Fame!!! Just let all the racist idiots cry!!!!
Reply:As much as I hate Barry Bonds and strongly believe he is a cheater and took steroids...until it's proven no asterisk by his name in the HOF. One, it hasn't been proven. Two, he was a HOF without the roids. Unlike guys like Sosa, Giambi, McGwire, Palmeiro, etc...Bonds was already considered arguably the best player of this generation before he roided up. Besides...baseball has Gaylord Perry in the HOF and it is well-known Perry loaded up the baseball, which was illegal and cheating BTW.
Reply:If anyone has doubts about his guilt just study photographs of him back to the beginning of his career to the present. Also, take into consideration that one season he's somewhat lanky and the next he's Arnold. HELLO! Asterisk and no Hall of Fame. NO WAY. If I was Hank Aaron I would be insulted.
Reply:Your opinion sounds totally uninformed. Your connection between segregation and drug use, though, is "unclear". You can't choose when you were born; you CAN choose to use or not use basic ethics in competition.

Besides, what makes anyone think he's going to the HOF, anyway? Everyone knows what he's done, even his jackass fans.
Reply:he has never 'failed' a steriod test. Keep rooting for him. I do. and they should put an * next to everyones' name if thats the case. Including Nolan Ryan.
Reply:He shouldn't be allowed in the hall of fame. If he if spotted in Cooperstown the police should arrest him for tresspassing.
Reply:Bonds is a world class cheater and his name in history is along with Ben Johnson. It does not take a rocket scientist to see the incredible size difference he underwent in a short time. It was not from eating his Wheaties. Cheaters are losers.
Reply:no he should be ban for life and not allowed to get into the hall of fame.
Reply:Yes

*=Cheater
Reply:He has been accused by the press, and subsequently the fans. There have been no formal charges, no hearing, no conviction. He has not been suspended by baseball, as have other players. He is persecuted by the press, because he doesn't submit to their whim. He has never, even in the days before steroid allegations, been adored by the press, and as he is the one nearest a seemingly unreachable career milestone, he is the one being convicted by the media of wrongdoing. Has he gained weight over the years? Yes. Is he super-buff? Take a look - not even close. Tony Gwynn, another great ball player not accused of wrong doing, also gained a lot of weight over his career.

Also, most great homerun hitters say that wrist strength is key to putting the ball out of the yard. Steroids cause weakness and brittleness to ligaments and tendons, which are vital to wrists. If Barry was on the juice, wouldn't he be likely to have more wrist injury? No asterisk. And if there is, I agree that you have to rethink all the records. Josh Gibson would then finally get his due, and could be considered baseball's homerun champ.
Reply:you can only do that if he is proven guilty, which he hasn't been yet...i do think he took steroids, but if he's not proven guilty no one can object
Reply:I'm not going to say that he should have an asterisk by his name just yet. He is innocent until proven guilty. However, he does have a lot of evidence mounting against him. I do tend to think that he did use steroids, and maybe he still does. But, until it is proven, or he admits to it, I won't say that his career should be tainted.
