How does an aster plant propagate?

I have planted a few aster plants which are now drying up. How can I ensure its propagation in the next season. From seeds? Or root division? I am in a tropical country in the northern hemisphere where the aster is a winter plant.

How does an aster plant propagate?
If you have the New England Aster it's a perennial and should come back in springtime. But you can still save the seeds. Wait until the seedheads form fluffy tops. Then grab the fluff and the seed is at the end of it.

If you have annual asters, you can harvest seeds the same way. I've never tried propogating this one from cuttings, but I suspect it would be easier to grow it from seed.
